I wanted to do a blog post to give you a glimpse into your appointment with me at True North. If you are anything like me, you like to be prepared. Especially for new experiences! This info will help to get you ready and excited to come into the studio. I can’t wait to hang with you!
You need an appointment.
You absolutely need an appointment to come and hang at True North. This ensures that I am prepped and ready to give you the best experience possible. In most cases, I require 48 hours notice for an appointment and I stick to the studio hours pretty strictly. However, if something comes up always feel free to get in touch with me and ask!
This appointment is just for you my friend.
Just you and your crew... literally. I even lock the door to make sure no one else tries to get in on the fun! We have a small space so I advise on keeping your entourage to 5 people. If you want to have more, just give me a heads up and we can work it out together! This experience is all about what you need to be comfortable and confident.
Your allotted time.
Appointments run 1hr 15min. I find this is the perfect time for you to try on a good number of gowns! Everyone is different, but we’ll probably get to try somewhere around 10 gowns. You can always come back again if you want to! I’d love to have you back to revisit favorites, try some new styles, or play with accessories!
Something to keep in mind.
The studio is located in Chatham NY in a great little space right near Main Street. There are a bunch of great restaurants, fun shops, and even a brewery all in walking distance from True North. So make a trip out of it and feel free to ask for recommendations!
Before you come to visit me...
A few days before your appointment, I will have you fill out an online questionnaire. It’s a great time to sit down and reflect a bit before you come into the studio. It’s nothing crazy and mainly focuses on how you want to feel on your wedding day. Whether you have a Pinterest board with a thousand dresses or have no idea where to start… I got you!
We finally meet.
Once you are with me at True North, my main goal is to make sure you are comfortable and having a great time. After I go over a few things, I let you do your thing! I’m pretty hands-off at first. I let you look around and pull styles you want to try. Then once we are in the groove and I get a better sense of what you are liking or not liking, I can help suggest some styles if you’d like! I never want my personal opinion to sway yours in any way, or for you to feel any pressure at all. My goal is to blend into your crew and feel more like a supportive friend than a salesperson.
Do what you gotta do.
As we’re trying on gowns, I want you to get the best feel for everything as possible! Bring whatever you want to complete the look. Undergarments, shoes, accessories are all welcome. Or if you have no idea what to bring, no worries! We can always make it work and it’s totally your preference. Once you are in the gowns you can walk around, sit down, dance, whatever! We can add some accessories, do your hair, take photos… I promise this will be fun!
Ugh has it been an hour and fifteen minutes already?
Once it’s time to wrap up, together we will choose your favorites. You can have 1 favorite or 10 favorites… you do you! About 3 days later, I will send you an email with all the details about those gowns, as well as answers to any questions you may have had that I couldn’t answer during the appointment.
A little about the purchase process.
If you do decide to go with a gown from True North, I take your measurements and we decide on a size to order together. That way there are no surprises. I also have a purchase agreement for you to sign that includes all the nitty-gritty. 60% of the payment is due when we place the order and the remaining 40% is due at pickup! For accessories, payment is due in full at the time you buy.
How do you get your hands on that gorgeous gown?
Gowns typically take 4-5 months to ship. When I place the order, I’ll give you an estimated timeframe when I think it will arrive at the studio. Once it arrives to me, I inspect it and I shoot you an email to come in and pick it up! Similar to your initial appointment, you can bring whatever you want with you when you come in to pick it up! You will try on the gown again (yay!) and we will talk through any alterations you will need to do with a seamstress. Once we’re done gushing over how incredible the gown looks on you, we’ll handle the remaining payment, snap a photo and hug goodbye! Sigh… that went by fast.
So there you have it! I hope this post helps you get a good sense of what your time at True North will be like (Hint: It will be magical).
